Surviving a Transcontinental Time Change
February 18th, 2010 | by admin |There are a number of possible solutions to jet lag including taking any number of herbal supplements, pills (either sleeping pills or wakefulness pills like Modafinil/Provigil), exercise, meditation or snake oil. However, if you have a little bit of time to adjust, I have found a foolproof solution which has worked for me on trips between the Western United States and the Middle East (10 hour time difference). When you reach your destination, force yourself to stay awake until 1-2 hours before what would be your typical bedtime in that time zone. Of course, if you land near bedtime and are not tired, you’ll want to do a 24 hour wraparound. Either way, you should be good and tired. Go to sleep, and wake up around your typical time and you should be right on synch in minimal time. Happy travels!
