What tattoo healing method is more effective, natural healing, (with moisturizing creams) or saran wrap?

My friends are telling me that rather than let my tattoo heal naturally, (airing it out with the application of tattoo-specific moisturizing cream) I should wrap it in saran wrap, to trick the skin into thinking it’s healed. The latter method sounds rather risky when it comes to the proper care of a tattoo.

Just let it dry heal. It will be scabby and itch horribly, but, dry healing is the way a lot of artists heal their tattoos, myself included. I only apply lotion when it itches too bad.

No no no – that’s horrible advise.

Let it heal the natural way. Keep it clean and use a thin layer of any unscented, dye free moisturizer.

The only time saran wrap is used is immediately after the artist is done, and even that is only for a max of 2 hours (or until bleeding has stopped)
