Is it true that keeping Pets is Holistic and can help in healing many diseases?

Pets are great in keeping your immune system working. Especially if you have a new-born child at home. I know it sounds dirty, but they help to immune a child of many allergies they might run into later in life. Pet’s are just a must in my home, and I believe it helps with all of our immune systems!!!

Not cure, but help in healing faster. They make people happy, and happy people eat better, and heal faster

Technically, that’s not what Holistic means, but keeping a pet can help you stay healthy, especially if you’re lonely. Pets are great companions. The best gift they give us is touch. Touch is a human need. Infants who are not touched just give up and die. Petting your dog or cat is great for your health and your pet’s.
I don’t think they actually cure any diseases, but prevent you from getting them in the first place.

Well, the term "holistic" is very vague in this context. Anything can be percieved as "holistic" if you view it that way.
Holistic generally describes a "whole encompassing view" which means that if you do something spiritual like prayer or meditation that it will help your health and body as well… That if you support a charity in Iowa you are somehow helping the entire world to be a better place… that everything is connected and affects everything else.
So I suppose that the answer would be yes. A holistic healer might tell you that getting a friendly puppy might relieve your depression which on some level will also make your body healthier. It might affect your eating habits and stress tolerance in a positive way as well.
The results of holistic medicine are sometimes amazing but often difficult to prove.

No, but petting a cat can lower your blood presser, because you relax so much.

I volunteer at an equine therapy center and I know of a girl that suffered from sever muscular dystrophy but after riding once a week for six weeks she was able to hold her head up and straighten her back. This is just an example but yes, pets do heal.
