What is the average healing time for a tattoo?

I just got a tat, but while doing the out-line part of the stencil rubbed off & I have to get it finished. It’s a 5×7 on my back. I was just wondering what the average healing time is for a tat…Anyone know?

    It really depends on the person and the intricacy of the tattoo. Unless it’s simply an outline, I would estimate that it would take at least six weeks to be healed (and this is if proper after care is followed).
    Edit: I just read the above post, and using baby oil on tattoos is not recommended. Such oils make it very difficult for your skin to breath, therefore making healing difficult. A tattoo will never be completely healed in one week; the scab may have come off, but that doesn’t mean that it’s healed.

  7. When I got mine I was told min 6 weeks for complete healing and so was my daughter. I was told that I couldn’t get a massage for a min of 3 months because there was a possibilty that the skin still had open places in it. Ask your tattoo artist he/she will be able to answer any questions you have. Also, my daughter had to take off from swim practice for 4 weeks and couldn’t work up a sweat for 3 weeks.

    fix that on the same day.
    As for the healing time, if it’s just the
    outline, 3 weeks minimum, just to be sure.
