How do you accelerate the healing process of a wound?

November 24th, 2009 | by admin |

I have a wound that still has the skin around it, so I cleaned that up and I applied a band aid with pressure around it so that the skin is pushing up on where the wound is. Is there anything I can do to accelerate the healing process? I need to be running in a few days.

Get rid of the skin around it, it won’t seal it back up, it will just die. Let it bleed as to let it clot and keep a band aid off of it whenever possible to let it air out. There is no real way to seal it up but it should heal pretty quick naturally if you do the right things. By the way, don’t pick the scab.

There really isn’t any way to accelerate wound healing, the best thing you can do is what you have already done.

Neosporin or Polysporin and a bandaid on top can help heal it faster. You can also get a bandaid with an antibiotic already in it.

ok well im not sure how much of a difference this will make, but you want to keep it clean, dont let it get dirty and maybe put some type of anti-biotic ointment on it to keep it from getting infected. Also you trying applying heat to the wound, heat dialtes your blood vessels and increases blood flow, so this would allow more blood to the area and increase the amount of nutrients it is getting. Also make sure you eat lots of protein your body needs protein to help to rebuild the cells that you lost. And probably the most important thing you can do to help you heal faster is get plenty of sleep. When sleep is when our body rebuilds and regenerates tissue so its very important you get plenty of rest.
