It's not that painful, it's just a bit of a shock obviously, as it is a natural reaction you will have watering eyes though. The best way to clean it is salt water: 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt (not table) dissolved in 8oz/one cup of hot water, when warm bathe for 5-10 minutes do this twice a day. I myself heal within about 4 weeks but ive seen people where it has 6 months to officially heal. I don’t know what other piercings you have? but this is my nose in comparrison to others;

Nose; 2/10
Ear lobes; 1/10
Cartilage; 2/10
Navel; 4/10

Your piercer should either give you advice on the best way to clean it, and possibly give you cleaning solution.
I use a Q-Tip covered in cleaning solution and it’s pretty obvious what to do once you have it.

Don’t play with it too much :)
