California Wine And The Malbec

February 13th, 2010 | by admin |

Have you ever heard of the Malbec wine varietal? Maybe, maybe not. If not let me give you some background information on it. The Malbec grape originally fares from France. It is one of 6 grapes used to produce the Bordeaux family of wines. Throughout history the Malbec grape was never actually used to create its own unique type of wine. Rather it was used to enhance the color and boldness of other wines … for example you might find some Malbec in a merlot or cabernet. More recently the Malbec has become its own varietal and I have to say … I am a fan. It is also a grape that likes warmer climates. This makes me wonder how it will do in California.
