Advertised, etc., for three months and could score no paying customers. So I moved on.
I was told by a spa that people don’t have money for Reiki right now…if they have extra money at all they will splurge on a massage but not on a Reiki healing….

Yes, you did the right thing – Reiki is bullshit and its amazing to me how finances can make that more obvious than evidence.

What is the difference between Reiki and Chakra Healing?

Reiki II, performed on the chakras from a foot or more away while the client is relaxing on a couch or bed, is pretty much the same as chakra healing.
I studied Reiki and obtained a master’s certificate; my specialty was long distance Reiki, remote Reiki, also known as Reiki III. However, despite months of advertising I could not attract a single paying client. People in the US don’t believe in Reiki enough to go for something that requires that kind of leap of faith….doing it from long distance. If you put your hands on them they might go for it, because it seems more believable to them, but you cannot legally put your hands on somebody’s body unless you have a massage therapy license so it gets rather complicated.
Reiki is psychosomatic healing: it depends on the belief of the client to be effective. People who are only curious, or not willing to pay for the services rendered, are not good candidates and the Reiki will probably have no effect on them.
Also, people have to remember that the healing is for the emotional and spiritual self. It is not medicine for the body and it is also no replacement for psychiatric medicine. I was approached by people who wanted me to perform Reiki to help them with backaches and psychiatric conditions, and I told them sorry but I would be lying if I told you Reiki is for anything but the emotional and spiritual self.

For that reason, most of the people who become Reiki clients are women, because men are not as in touch with their emotions. Most men try to deny even having an emotional self.

Is it necessary to use hand positions while doing Reiki self-healing?

Can I just use one hand position, say the front solar plexus and let it flow to wherever its required for abt an hour.?

Extra: I learnt Reiki 1, and 2 in September’09. And I have seen good results.

As with almost every so called "alternative" healing practices, and their religious cousins, there is always some ritualistic action that must be undertaken for the magic to work, or the god to listen to your prayers

Reiki…as an example of the "energy work" types of practices (others being Therapeutic Touch, and Wiccan healing) is no exception. The hand motions make no difference at all. Their entire purpose is distract the applicant and occupy them with a purposeless diversion, while their brains imagine something is happening. TT found this out many years ago, when their own studies found that it made no difference whether or not clients were touched during thee healing ceremony.

You may have "seen good results"….whatever that means…but that is only one persons subjective and I’m sorry to point out, gullible experience. What people usually report are vague and subjective things like decrease in pain, more relaxed etc….nothing that can be objectively measured. When energy practices are subjected to objective scientific study…all the reported benefits disappear.

So, you can use whatever hand positions you like, you can even just pretend to use hand positions, or use the wrong hand positions. It makes no difference when you are engaged in a useless time waster like Reiki

Advice needed about what is needed to start up a Reiki Healing practice please ?

I don’t think any formal qualifications are required to scam people. Most ‘healers’ are ignorant of science, and routinely promote implausible interventions with full credulous conviction.

Reiki healing for abandonment and separation issues?

I have really huge abandonment and separation issue. Just recently, a very dear friend and I separated under very bad circumstances. There had been a row bet her sister and I. The problem’s actually much deeper than that. What it is at now, though, is that I feel like I may be losing my friend, not because there had been a rift between us but because of the circumstances surrounding the row between her sister and me. I think she might decide to separate for good with me and I am so scared. My question is actually more to do with healing the fear and the anxiety of the loss. I’m currently undergoing reiki therapy. How effective is it? I still have one more session to go. Although there have been major shifts, I’m still worried as to whether it will work fully in this case. Thank you.

I always find it interesting when people who are alternative healing practitioners still think it’s just the placebo effect – if that’s the case, why on earth would you practice it??

In any case, Reiki is a really powerful healing method for emotional issues. With any chronic issue however, it will take regular treatments to get the healing breakthrough. (Just like with Western medicine, if you don’t stick with a course of treatment until you are healthy, you’re only going to get somewhat better or not better at all.)

To be fair, deep emotional healing is some of the more difficult and painful to heal – because you have to face the pain, process it, and integrate those experiences into yourself become a NEW whole. Reiki can expediate the process of helping those issues surface fully, and can support the process of dealing with them, however it is still up to the recipient to do the hard work. Reiki cannot force someone to heal…on ANY level. It can bring you there and give you what you need to get through the experience, but ultimately it’s up to you to embrace the healing and do the work.

I would stick with the Reiki for awhile longer, making sure to talk to your practitioner about these issues that you want to heal so that s/he can direct the sessions appropriately. There are symbols and techniques that can be used to direct the healing specifically towards mental/emotional healing needs.

For your part, you will want to journal any thoughts and feelings that arise during treatments and in-between as they pertain to your situation. This can help give you an outlet for your feelings, and also put it out there in a concrete form that you can revisit when you’re in a more objective state of mind later on (when you’re not experiencing the emotions freshly) – that can help you draw alot of really important connections and get to the root of some issues, and start the healing process.

You may also want to create some affirmations that you use before, during, &/or after and in between treatments to help you manifest your healing goals. These can be very effective when combined with proactive efforts to move forward in your life. Make sure you tell your practitioner about those affirmations as well, as there are techniques s/he can use to energetically communicate those affirmations deeply into your subconscious mind through the Reiki. That will also help expediate the process greatly.

Reiki can also help you see the broader situation – ways you can deal with the circumstances facing you now that will help heal it before it takes a turn for the worse.

So, yes, the Reiki will be very effective in helping you deal with this – however you will have alot of work to do. NOTHING can do the work for you…not a therapist, not Reiki, not a medical doctor, not an acupuncturist, etc.

I’ve been an Usui Reiki Master since 2001 and I’ve seen alot of very powerful healing in both myself and my clients and students. It will work, if you’re ready for it to.

If you can’t find anyone locally (try Google-ing for your locale and desired topics, or visit Witchvox.com for local occult listings) you can look for online options – there are plenty of them. Just make sure they list a detailed syllabus so you know what material will be covered, and ask to make sure that there will be regular interaction with and feedback from your instructors.

Also there are some magickal/occult Orders that offer classes via correspondence. If you are interested in Hermetic Ceremonialism (which includes astral work) you may wish to check out The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn – http://www.esotericgoldendawn.com, among others.

Although Online Sites are good as mentioned By Shalini Bhalla , But real reiki levels need to be learnt from some Reiki Masters . There are many levels and to start with one has Level One where the learner does Reiki on him/her self .
